Balancing both will be herculian for individuals as well as societies.
Voluntary self discipline is a rare commodity. Enforced discipline
increases bitterness. People crave revery. Shakespeare served
revery. Milton and Samuel Johnson seem to support stiffness. But
occasionally they too show a relaxed vein.
