#006 HOUSE

A house literally means 'dwelling'. It provides us shelter from the ravages of cold, heat and rain. It gives us comfort. This comfort will be a real luxury when we compare ourselves with our ancestors who lived in caves. Houses have now become unduly expensive. The rise in prices of houses is the result of manipulation by builders and home financiers. Their greed has resulted in a great depression-like situation in U.S.A. The same people now drive out the citizens from their houses for loan defaults. Gaston Bachelard (in The Poetics of Space)said: The house shelters day-dreaming, the house protects the dreamer, the house allows one to dream in peace."
